The research result of specific Q-e scheme will be presented at the 72nd Symposium on Macromolecules

Susumu Kawachi, a Principal Expert at Quemix, will give a presentation on 'First calculation of Q-e values of individual polymer radicals and monomers using the revised Q-e scheme ' at the 72nd Symposium on Macromolecules, which will be held at Kagawa University's Saiwai-cho Campus.

Summary: By applying two reference monomers to the revised Q-e scheme, the unknown reactivity ratios between monomers could be expressed only in terms of the known reactivity ratios of the target and reference monomers, eliminating arbitrariness. This newly derived scheme improves the prediction accuracy of reactivity ratios. In addition, Q-e values for individual polymer radicals and monomers have been successfully calculated for the first time. These are the first achievements since the Q-e scheme proposed by Alfrey and Price in 1947. In the presentation, the above will be descibed and the obtained Q-e values will be discussed.
